Supporting our Faculty and Students
Dear Colleagues,
The beginning of a new academic year is always an enjoyable time to be on our campus — students have returned and breathed new life into our buildings and spaces. There is excitement and energy in the air everywhere you go, with new friendships and communities being created every day.
As faculty, you play a powerful role in helping shape our students’ trajectories, through your classroom teaching, laboratory leadership and creative guidance. You are our most vital partners in preparing them to lead lives of meaning and purpose that help improve our communities.
In order to best help them succeed, it is important that they have the resources necessary to support their learning and discovery. The Office for Student Success serves students in a variety of ways, including academic tutoring, skills building and wellness programs. Please encourage your students to make use of these resources and programs — you can find more information on how to connect students with resources here: https://studentsuccess.uky.edu/get-help.
Equally important is ensuring that you are similarly supported to continue the important work you do. The Center for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching as well as the Office for Faculty Advancement are both excellent resources to guide faculty through different stages of your careers, whether you are new to the field or are an experienced faculty member. It is also vital to take care of your own well-being with UK Human Resources Work-life and Well-being.
Our people — students, faculty and staff — are critical to UK’s mission to advance Kentucky and its communities. Taking care of each other and ourselves is how to ensure we can continue meeting that mission.
Thank you all for everything you do for our people and our state.
